The Recoverable: Exhausted Luminaries
The collaboration between institutions of culture allows for the dissemination of art. In other words, through institutional infrastructure works of art can travel and be displayed in different venues. This navigational ease consequently makes it possible for audiences of a wide spectrum to have access to these collections.
'The recoverable' concerns itself with the infrastructure that makes this global art exchange possible. What about the obsolete objects that facilitate the viewing of art? General León 51 will collaborate with museums and galleries around the world in order to acquire their broken-down or damaged objects. Instead of being discarded by these institutions, these objects will come to form part of the collection that makes up General León 51.
This collaboration focuses on the transmutation of that which is discarded (that with aesthetic, symbolic or economic value)*.
